Program: Grand Canal cruise, the No1 Silk Factory, Panmen City Gate, the Lingering Garden
Depart from your hotel in the morning to have a Grand Canal cruise. The Grand Canal of China is the oldest and longest canal in the world, regarded as one of the greatest ancient project of China. There are a lot to see when cruising on the canal.
The arrangement will be made to visit the No1 Silk Factory in Suzhou, as this city is also famous for the silk.In the factory, you will see closely the different procedures before the magic silk is created.
After having lunch at local restaurant, visit the ancient Panmen City Gate which is the oldest city gate in existence in Suzhou city. It used to be one of the eight city gates during the Spring & Autumn Annals (770-476 BC) when Suzhou was the capital of the Wu Kingdom. The current gate was reconstructed in 1351. It consists of Water and Land Gates, city gate tower and city walls at both sides.
Finally visit the Lingering Garden. First built in 1522, it is one of the four most famous classical gardens in China. The garden is separated into the middle, eastern, northern and western parts connecting with beautiful corridors of 700 meters long. The whole garden features with artificial mountains, unique limestone, beautiful pavilions and a number of attractive buildings.
