Suzhou International Silk Tourist Festival
Known as the "Silk City", ancient Suzhou was famous for its production of this luxurious material. Nowadays, the area still remains a hub of the national silk industry. The Suzhou International Silk Tourist Festival is a large celebration activity held yearly from Sept. 25 to Oct 20. A series of celebration activities with local cultural charm will be held, including silk exhibitions and fashion shows. Clients and visitors from other parts of the world are welcome to share the essence of Suzhou culture.
In ancient China, those fabulous garments were reserved for emperors and noble families. Then silk together with other goods were transported to the west through the Silk Road centuries ago. During the festival, you can not only see some beautiful garments and Su embroidery, but also get a chance to see the silkworms which are feed on mulberry leaves and spinning a cocoon of pure silk slowly. Threads are wound onto reels in the factories and eventually woven, dyed and made into fabulous garments!
Taihu Lake Plum Blossom Festival
The Taihu Lake Plum Blossom Festival Celebration is held in the Linwudong Square, West Hill, Taihu Lake. Focused on the plum blossom, this festival sees all kinds of wonderful folk culture activities in a propitious and enthusiastic atmosphere. Visitors from all over take great pleasure in seeing Taihu Lake, the surrounding hills, and the fragrant flowers.
Lotus Festival
The lotus festival is going on through to the end of August at The Humble Administrator’s Garden and the Lotus-pond Wetland Park in Xiangcheng District. At the Lotus-pond Wetland Park, you may also enjoy picking lotus seed while rowing a small boat.
