It is announced that the China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines will cooperate by code-sharing on two lines to Seoul, one is from Beijing and another is from Shanghai Pudong.

By the code-sharing, the two airlines are extending their network at little cost. And travelers are able to book on either route with either airline and accumulate frequent flier miles with their preferred scheme.

Before this, China Southern and China Eastern had code-shared on many domestic routes; however, it is the first time that the two have launched code-sharing on international routes.  

As a member of SkyTeam, China Southern already code-shares with Korean Air on the Beijing to Seoul and Shanghai to Seoul routes.
