Preparing for the upcoming World Expo, the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration announced that there are 20 new tourist information centers will be open by May 1, 2010.

In order to offer better services to foreign and domestic tourists during Expo 2010, Shanghai Municipal government has decided to set up 20 new tourist information centers and reconstruct or expand 20 of the existing centers in Shanghai. These centers will offer comprehensive and Expo-related tourism information to local citizens and visitors.

From 1999, Shanghai has been setting up tourist information centers in its districts and counties. The city's existing tourism information centers have handled over 6 million individual enquiries.
