AA Postpones Launch of Chicago-Beijing Route

The inaugural flight between Chicago and Beijing, which was scheduled for 26th April, has been canceled by AMR Corporation’s American Airlines.

Mary Frances Fagan, the spokesperson for the airline, stated that the airline has halted the launch of daily nonstop service between the two cities because that it had not received “commercially viable” arrival and departure slots from the Chinese aviation authorities.

American Airlines had scheduled flights to depart Chicago O’Hare International Airport on 26th April, 2010 and arrive in Beijing Capital International Airport at 13:55 on 27th April. However, according to American Airlines, the Chinese authorities gave American daily landing and take-off slots at Beijing Capital International Airport for 02:20 and 04:20.

And Fagan added that American Airlines had postponed the launch of this route until a tentative date May 4, 2010 as it tries to resolve the dispute.
