World's Highest-altitude InterContinental Hotel to Open In Tibet

Recently, InterContinental Hotels celebrated the ground-breaking of the InterContinental Resort Lhasa Paradise in Tibet. It will be the brand’s largest and highest-altitude hotel.

Invested by the Chengdu Exhibition and Travel Group, the scenic InterContinental Resort Lhasa Paradise will open in the first quarter of 2012. Located in Lhasa’s newly developed business center and only a few kilometers away from the Potala Palace, this hotel will be the largest hotel in Tibet with 2,000-room property.

The managing director of IHG Greater China, Mr. Keith Barr said this is an important milestone in IHG’s plans to expand in western China. He added that their co-operation with ETG is long-term and involves multiple brands and locations.

Due to its unique location and expansive meeting facilities InterContinental Resort Lhasa Paradise is being positioned as a destination for both leisure travelers and for the meeting, incentive travel, conference, and exhibition market.
