Hong Kong International Airport Posts Record Figures

Hong Kong’s international airport, Chek Lap Kok, has announced that all three categories of traffic recorded double-digit growth in July 2010, a sign of continuing strong summer traffic momentum.
Passenger throughput was up 17.5% from a year ago reaching new monthly highs of 4.7 million, which aircraft movements up 14.7% and reaching 26,720. And also cargo tonnage jumped 24.5% year-on-year to 363,000 tons during the same period. In July, passenger traffic to and from mainland China and South East Asia performed particularly well. While overall visitor numbers registered a 29% yearly increase, Hong Kong resident traffic rose 21% compared to July 2009. In addition, according to the latest report by Airports Council International, HKIA has retained its position as the world's busiest international cargo airport for the 14th consecutive year and handled the world's third largest international passenger volume in 2009. |
