Brief Introduction :
Hutongs are a kind of ancient city alley or lane with lots of courtyards where common people are living. It is typical in Beijing, most of them are found around the Forbidden City, and many were built during the three dynasties of Yuan, Ming and Qing.
The Hutong Tour starts from along Shishahai near the vegetable and fruit market. In the deepest of the Hutong, they were taken to visit Prince Gong´s Mansion, famous in the Qing Dynasty.
Today, the Hutong is a living museum of Beijing history showing the traditional lifestyle of Beijing people. Tricycles hold two people and peddled by an experienced bicyclist. Stops are made to visit a local family and see first-hand how the people of Beijing live.
The visitors were impressed by the building style of the brick-and-tile mansion, in which the courtyard consists of a garden with winding corridors, pavilions, rockeries and water.
