Brief Introduction :
With the central exhibition area of 7000 square meters, Sanxingdui Museum is situated at northeast Sanxingdui remains site by the Duck River, 40 kilometers away from Chengdu. These exhibitions present the fascinating art and material culture of ancient Sichuan, in remote southwest China. The works of art on exhibit include monumental bronze images of deities, lively human figures, fantastic ritual vessels, exquisite jades, and spirited ceramic sculptures dating from Shang and Zhou periods to the Han dynasty (206 B.C. to 24 A.D.).
They are among the most unusual and spectacular works of art from the ancient world These exhibitions provides rare access to a previously unknown artistic and cultural tradition as well as an opportunity to reexamine the early phase of Chinese civilization. Visit the museum is just like to "Walk Through Treasures from a Lost Civilization".
The rich exhibits are grouped into four units as follows:
A. Splendor of Ancient Shu Culture offering an overall introduction of the history of ancient Sichuan.
B. Mystery of the Primitive Faith.
A series of panoramic view plus a simulated show of that day real life revealing the psyches/mores of ancient Shu people.
C. Exquisite Cultural Artifacts
The choice out of the excavated artifacts by thousands are on display here, including ten-odd pieces/sets of rare relics which are supposed to be of special value of cultural legacy.
D. Sanxingdui: Excavation and Study
The surroundings of the Museum have turned out to be a perfect lay-out for cultural purpose. Here one can see a large altar for the show of old sacrificial rites, a huge arena for theatrical festive, an elegant view of the lake and rockery, and old-fashioned group of minor buildings.
