Brief Introduction :
Lying 8 kilometers northwest of Jiayuguan, the Overhanging Great Wall, to some extent, is more interesting than the fort. The wall is believed to have been constructed in 1540 as an important component in the medieval military defense system. From a distance, it is said to resemble a dragon about to extend its body towards the ground.
From the upper tower high on a ridge (quite steep), you can be rewarded by a sweeping view of the Gobi desert, the oasis of Jiayuguan city and the snow-capped mountains in the distance.
The Overhanging Great Wall was reconstructed in 1987, with sidesteps added to allow visitors to climb the Wall.
