Fenghuang (Phoenix), an ancient town of historical and cultural significance, is small yet picturesque. "Feng Huang" in Chinese is "Phoenix", the mythical bird of good omen and longevity that is consumed by fire to be re-born again from the flames.Feng Huang Ancient Town is a wonderful example of what Chinese villages were like prior to the onset of modernization. You will be impressed by its original Miao people´s custom, air of mystery, elegance and primitive simplicity.

Phoenix Town has a very famous architecture style to symbol its special identity--- House on stilt. With upturned eaves and corners, the stilted houses are connected by corridors on three sides. Riding a small boat drifting along the Tuojiang River, you will see those unique buildings along the riverside, where local Miao people live. The design of these dwellings is amazing.
