Located in Huaxi District, Ancient Town of Qingyan was originally the Qingyan Castle built in Hongwu reign (1368-1398) of the Ming Dynasty.

The layout of the old town retains the architectural styles of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Now the old town preserves one city gate, four streets, 26 lanes paved with flage stones, three stone memorial archways, and ancient wood-structure houses slong the streets, showing the characteristics of the civilian residences of South China. In the ancient town, stone enclosing walls, and stone sounters, mortars, mills and rollers can be found everywhere, hence the name "the Stone City", in addition to the Buddhist and Taoist Temples, and Catholic and Christian churches, forming a scenic marvel with the mergence of varied religious culture.
