Wugong Temples are approximately 5 kilometers (about 3.1 miles) away from the center of Haikou City.
Wugong Temples are attractive and intriguing Ming dynasty construction dedicated to five officials who were banished to Hainan during the Tang dynasty for criticism of the government in their work. The famous Song dynasty poet, Su Dongpo, was also banished to Hainan and is commemorated here. Through different dynasties period, restoration and extension works were carried out to this temple complex with the inclusion of gardens, ponds and pavilions to beautify the complex compound.
Wugong Temples are consist of the Wugong Temple (Five Officials´ Temple), the Sugong, Hairui and Fubo Temples, and Guanjia Tang (Watching Crop Hall), and Xuepu Tang (Studying Hall). They cover an area of about 2,800 square meters (about 0.69 acres).

Wugong Temple is the main part of this building complex and Wugong Temple is considered to be "the No.1 Building in Hainan" even though it is only a two-storied wooden building.
