Situated in the southwest of Sichuan Province, setting beside the wide convergence of the Qingyi, Min and Dadu rivers, 180km from Chengdu and 50 km from Emei Shan, Leshan is a pretty little city with the population of 7000 and the history of 1300-year-old. Leshan has taken off as a popular tourist destination thanks to its main claim to fame ¨Cthe towering Grand Buddha. The city has managed to retain a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and a wonder through its markets.
Most of visitors to the Great Buddha of Leshan set out from Chengdu in the morning, returning in the afternoon. Travelers to the nearby sacred mountain of Emeishan often stop at Leshan on their way to or from Chengdu.Spring and late Autumn is the best season of tour.
