Brief Introduction :
Brief Introduction
Lake Manasarovar is a fresh-water lake in Tibet 2,000 km from Lhasa. To the west of Lake Manasarovar is Lake Rakshastal and towards the north is Mount Kailash, known in Tibetan as Khang Rinpoche.

Lake Manasarovar is a place of pilgrimage, attracting religious people from India, Tibet and the neighboring countries. Bathing in it and drinking its water is believed to cleanse all sins. Pilgrimage tours are organized regularly, especially from India. Pilgrims come to take ceremonial bathes in the cleansing waters of the lake.

According to Hindu religion, the lake was first created in the mind of the Lord Brahma. Hence, in Sanskrit it is called "Manasarovar", which is a combination of the words Manas (mind) and Sarovar (lake).

Features
Lake Manasarovar is a holy lake called"mother of the world´s rivers"in Buddhist classics, which enjoys the same reputation as the holy mountain Kangrinboqe.

The lake is sacred because it has been mentioned in many religious classics or legends.According to Indian legends,it is the place where God Siva and his wife Goddess Wuma, daughter of Himalayas took baths. In the ancient Tibetan story,it is described as the place where the God of Wealth lives. Manasarovar means eternal jade-blue lake in Tibetan, which is said to have commemorated the victory of Buddhism over the local Bon in the 11th century. The master monk of the Tang Dynasty Xuanzang called it "Yaochi(a fairyland in Chinese myths)in the west"in his the book Buddhist Records of the western World in the Tang Dynasty.
