Located 22 kilometers northeast of Nanjing, Qixia Mountain is revered as the first mountain in Jinling.
Three peaks of the mountain are called Mount Tiger, Mount Dragon and Peak of Flying Phoenix, the last one is the highest peak. The name of Mount Qixia means the mountain where rosy clouds perch. In autumn, the mountain wears red when maples go red. However, the most impressive spots on the mountain are the many widely scattered cultural relics, especially Qixia Temple, Sarira Pagoda and Thousand Buddhas Cliff.
Qixia Temple was founded by the Bulddhist monk Ming Sengshao during the Southern Qi dynasty, and is till an active place of worship. It has long been one of China´s most important monasteries, and even today is one of the largest Buddhist seminaries in the country.

The natural landscape here is really charming with its flame colored maple trees, strange stones, luxuriant forests and clear springs. Mount Qixia is famous for its natural beauty and historic sites of the mountain.
