Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County is a county in Liuzhou, northern Guangxi province, China. It is a region traditionally inhabited by the Dong people, bordering Guizhou to the northwest and Hunan to the northeast.The town of Chengyang, north of Sanjiang toward Hunan province, is becoming a popular tourist destination with backpackers.20 km north of Sanjiang lies the Dong village Chengyang Chiao. The village is a traditional Dong minority village. The houses are all made of wood. Inside the villages you will find traditional Drum Towers. Crossing the river is the best preserved Wind and Rain Bridge which contains 5 parts. The bridge dates back to the 1920´s and is for many people the main reason to visit the village.
Sanjiang is located in subtropical humid monsoon climate zone, with an annual precipitation of around 1493 mm. The region has annually an average temperature of 17-19 degrees Celsius, 1600 hours of sunshine and 79 days of frost period.Spring comes from mid March to mid May, with humid, rainy and cool weather. Summer, from mid May to end of September, has heavy rains and high temperature. July is the hottest season, with an average temperature of 26.3 degree celsius. Autumn follows with dry weather till the end of November. Winter is frosty and cold, spanning from the beginning of December till March of the next year. January is the coldest season, with an average temperature of 8.2 degree celsius.
