Chengyang is situated in 20 kilometers north of Sanjiang county of Guangxi Region.Its famous attraction is The Wind-Rain Bridge,which is on the Linxi River in the Chengyang Village . The biggest bridge of this kind, it has been put under the protection of the government as an important
cultural relic. The wind-rain bridge has become a hallmark of areas inhabited by the Dong people. Built in 1916, the bridge at Chengyang is 76 meters long, 3.4 meters wide and stands 10.6 meters high. What is unique about the bridge is that pavilions were built on the bridge. On Chengyang Bridge, there are 5 pavilions. The central pavilion is in the shape of a pagoda while the side pavilions look like palaces. Another feature of the bridge is that the bridge was built without the use of a single nail, a manifestation of the ingenuity of the Dong people. The Wind-Rain Bridge
not only offers easy passage across the river, but also provides shelter from wind and rain. During festivals, the bridge is also a favorite rendezvous for boys and girls, who express their love for each other by singing songs.
