Brief Introduction
Situated in Huayin City, 120 kilometers (about 75 miles) east from Xian City of Shaanxi Province, Huashan Mountain is known as "The Number One Precipitous Mountain under Heaven".
It is one of the five sacred mountains in China with its marvelous landscape. It is made up of five peaks, namely the east peak Rising Sun, west peak Lotus Flower, central peak Jade Maiden, south peak Falling Wild Goose, and north peak Cloud Platflorm, each with distinctive characteristics. From a distance the five peaks seem to form the shape of a "flower"(hua in Chinese), hence the name "Huashan".
Features
It is famous for its natural vistas of steep and narrow paths, precipitous crags, and a high mountain range. It is home to several influential Taoist temples where emperors of past dynasties made pilgrimages, making Huashan Mountain the holy land of Taoism.
The spectacular scenery is still here: knife-blade ridges, twisted pine trees clinging to ledges, and vast, transcendent panoramas of green mountains and countryside stretching away to the horizon.
