[Dujiangyan
Irrigation System]
56 kilometres away from Chengdu City, Dujiangyan Irrigation
System is located by the Mingjiang River in the west of Chengdu
Plain. Libing, the governor and his son during Qin Dynasty (221-206
B.C) constructed it over 2000 years ago. It is the greatest
irrigation system which is one of the oldest in the world and
still in use today. The Dujiangyan Irrigation System has been
bringing great benefits to agricultural production. |

[Wuhou
Temple]
Located in the south of Chengdu, Wuhou (Marquis) Temple is a
famous historical site dedicated to the memory of both Liu Bei
(161-223 A.D), Emperor of the Kingdom of Shu in the Three Kingdoms
period (220-280 A.D), and Zhuge Liang (181-234 A.D), Prime Minister
of the kingdom. The temple consists of Liu Bei Hall, Zhuge Liang
Hall and Hui Ling Tomb, plus some precious cultural relics,
such as the “Statement at Departure” composed by
Zhuge Liang and with the calligraphy of Yuefei, Longzhong Couplet
also written by Zhuge Liang. |

[Sanxingdui
Museum]
With the central exhibition area of 7000 square meters, Sanxingdui
Museum is situated at northeast Sanxingdui remains site by the
Duck River, 40 kilometers away from Chengdu. These exhibitions
present the fascinating art and material culture of ancient
Sichuan, in remote southwest China. The works of art on exhibit
include monumental bronze images of deities, lively human figures,
fantastic ritual vessels, exquisite jades, and spirited ceramic
sculptures dating from the late phase of Sanxingdui culture
(13th-11th century B.C.) to the Han dynasty (206 B.C. to 24 A.D.).
They are among the most unusual and spectacular works of art
from the ancient world These exhibitions provides rare access
to a previously unknown artistic and cultural tradition as well
as an opportunity to reexamine the early phase of Chinese civilization.

[Thatched
Cottage of Du Fu]
Thatched Cottage of Du Fu is located on the side of the Flower
Washing Brook in the western suburbs of Chengdu. It is the former
residence of the celebrated Tang dynasty poet, Du Fu (712-770AD).
Du Fu lived in Chengdu for three years and nine months, creating
27 poems, many of which are generally regarded as his masterpieces
and are still chanted today. |

The giant panda is also known as the panda bear, or in Chinese
as"Daxiongmiao" , the " Large bear cat".
The giant panda has a very special place in Chinese cultural
lore, as many qualities and characteristics of the panda are
qualities revered by Chinese society as a whole. A panda protection
and research center in Wolong Nature Reserve boasts 65 pandas.
From 1991 to 2001, the center used artificial methods to breed
53 pandas, 41 of which have survived. |
