 About Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
|
 Beijing 2008 Olympic games will take place from 8 August 2008 to 24 August 2008. The Games in Beijing will play host to the 28 summer sports currently on the Olympic programme. Approximately 10,500 athletes are expected to participate in the Games with around 20,000 accredited media bringing the Games to the world.
Every emblem of the Olympics tells a story. The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games emblem "Chinese Seal, Dancing Beijing" is filled with Beijing's hospitality and hopes, and carries the city's commitment to the world.
"One World One Dream" fully reflects the essence and the universal values of the Olympic spirit -- Unity, Friendship, Progress, Harmony, Participation and Dream. It expresses the common wishes of people all over the world, inspired by the Olympic ideals, to strive for a bright future of Mankind. In spite of the differences in colors, languages and races, we share the charm and joy of the Olympic Games, and together we seek for the ideal of Mankind for peace. Beijing sports will take Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of “Three Represents” as its guidance, use “New Beijing, Great Olympics” as its theme, give prominence to the idea of “Green Olympics, Scientific and Humanity Olympics”.
The "Green Olympics, Scientific Olympics and Humanity Olympics" have rich and profound meanings. "Green Olympics" not merely means the adding of some green fields, in essence it means sustainable development and environmental protection; "Scientific Olympics" is not merely a technological problem but means solving various problems arising in the hosting of the Olympics by a scientific method and in a scientific spirit. "Humanity Olympics" means infiltrating the human spirit into the Olympic Games and promoting improvement of human quality through the games. "Humanity Olympics" is the core of the organic unity of the three major ideas. |

The sailing events for the 2008 Olympic Games will be held within Qingdao International Sailing Center, the five water areas outside Fushan Bay.
The equestrian events for the 2008 Olympic Games will be held in Hong Kong, China.
Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenyang, Qinhuangdao will hold the football matches for the 2008 Olympic Games.
