You will be met at the train station in Datong in the afternoon by our Discoverchinatours guide, and driven to the hotel. After checking in the hotel, the rest of the time is free for you to explore the old city.

Day 02 Datong - Taiyuan via: train (Meals: B/L/-)

Sightseeing: Yungang Grottoes / Nine Dragon Screen / Huayan Temple

Our guide will meet you at your hotel in Datong, where you will drive to visit the Yungang Grottoes. With their 252 caves and 51,000 statues, the grottoes represent the outstanding achievement of Buddhist cave art in China in the 5th and 6th centuries. The Five Caves created by Tan Yao, with their strict unity of layout and design, constitute a classical masterpiece of the first peak of Chinese Buddhist art.
Then you will visit the Nine Dragon Screen, which was built in 1392 to conceal the palace of a Ming dynasty (1368-1644) prince.
Enjoy some time visiting Huayan Temple before your afternoon train to Taiyuan. Upon your arrival in Taiyuan in the late evening, our tour guide will meet you and transfer you to the hotel.

Day 03 Taiyuan Pingyao via: train (Meals: B/L/-)

Sightseeing: Taiyuan - Jin Ancestral Temple / Qiao's Grand Courtyard / Pingyao Ancient Town

After breakfast, you will be met in the lobby and transferred to visit Jin Ancestral Temple. The Jin Ancestral Temple was originally started in the Northern Wei Dynasty (386 - 532 AD) to commemorate the memory of Shu Yu (Zhou Wu), the founder of the state of Jin.
Then visit The Qiao's Grand Courtyard. With the area of 8724 square meters, the courtyard was the house of the richest family Qiao in Qing Dynasty in China. Though 2 centuries have been passed, it still keeps its original splendor in architectural style.
After sampling some delicious local specialties for lunch, we will go to Pingyao Ancient Town. In the middle of Shanxi Province, it is the best-preserved among the four ancient towns in China. It is the assembly place of folk houses in north China where rows upon rows of buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties stand in well-preserved conditions.
As sunset approaches, you will be taken to the train station to Pingyao, which takes you at least 2 hours. Arrive at Pingyao ancient town, be met and transferred and check in your hotel.

Day 04 Pingyao Beijing via: train (Meals:-/-/-)

Sightseeing: Ancient City Wall / Rishengchang Draft Bank / Mingqing Street / Shuanglin Temple

You will start the day with a visit to the Ancient City Wall. The 6.4km-long wall was constructed in the third year of Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty (1370A.D.). It is one of the best-preserved ancient city walls in China.
You will then head to the Rishengchang Draft Bank, which was established in 1823. It was the biggest draft bank at that time and had been famous for ""Hui Tong Tian Xia"" (Business Connecting the Whole World).
After lunch, visit the Mingqing Street, which is the downtown thoroughfare and reserved quite well of the styles in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
We will also pay a visit to the Shuanglin Temple in the afternoon. Standing for more than 1500 years, the temple is famous for more than 2,000 painted sculptures of precious value, representing Ming and Qing Dynasties' best. They are reputed as a "treasure reserve of the oriental painted sculptures".
Take evening train to Beijing in the evening and over night on the train. You will arrive in Beijing in the morning.
