Gubei Water Town, full name in Beijing Miyun Gubei Water Town (Simatai Great Wall) International Tourism Resort, Beijing W Town in short name, sits with the back of Simatai Great Wall and Yuanyanghu Reservior. The town is a rare natural old village combining by mountains, great walls and lake in suburb of Beijing. The W Town was reconstructed from the old five natural villages and has well preserved quadrangle courtyards of the style in the Republic of China with total area of more than 90 thousand square km, including five star hotels, 6 boutique hotels.
The normal program is to stay one night in Gubei Water Town, enjoy the peaceful evening, and spend a whole day to conquer Simatai Great wall. If you are powerful enough, you could challenge climb from Simatai to Jinshanling Great wall, this program is really challenging.
Take bus No. 980 and get off at Miyun Xi Daqiao Station (Miyuan West Bridge) and transit another bus No. 38 or No. 51 to get off at Simatai Cun (Simatai Village), then walking to the town.
Temperature difference is large especially in spring, autumn, and winter. Please bring enough cloths, particularly the mountaineering jackets, trekking shoes and alpenstock.
