Gushan Mountain Scenic and Historic Interest Zone Travel Guide

This national scenic zone is located on the northern bank of the Minjiang River in Fuzhou. It is composed of five scenic districts, namely Gushan Mountain, Guling Mountain, Shanxi Stream, Moxi Stream and Fengchi Pool-Baiyun Cave with a total area of 48 square kilometers. The highest mountain within the zone is 969 meters above sea level. Several dozen spots of interest are scattered around the Yongquan Temple: to the east are the Huilong Tower and Lingyuan Cave; to the west are several dozens of mountain caves; to the south are the Luohan Terrace and Xianglu Peak; and to the north are Dading Peak and Baiyun Cave. More than 700 cliff carvings are found in the mountains. Among them is an inscription written by Cai Xiang (1012-1067),a great calligrapher living in the Northern Song Dynasty, an inscription by Zhi Xi (1130-1200), a great philosopher living in the Southern Song Dynasty, and an inscription by Zhu De (1886-1976), a senior communist revolutionist, and an inscription of Luo Ruiqing (1906-1978), another Communist revolutionist.
