Li River Travel Guide
The beautiful Lijiang river origins from Mao´er Mountain in Xing´an Town, flows through Guilin, Yangshuo and to Gongcheng in Leping County. Li River is by far the main reason to visit Guilin.
The Li River cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo is the centerpiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Water buffalo patrol the fields, peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. With its breathtaking scenery and taste of a life far removed from the concrete metropolis, the scenery along the Li River become one of China´s top tourist destinations.
The 83 kilometers part of Lijiang from Guilin to Yangshuo is very enchanting, with mountains and waters. After passengers have seen the scenery at Xingping, a town bordered with hills, the boat reaches Yangshuo. The one-thousand-year old town--Yangshuo, the disembarking point, comes into sight. It is well-worth browsing around this quaint town and its environs. Have a short exploration to the old town before to be transferred back to Guilin city.

Double-decker and triple-decker river boats which weigh anchor from a pier at Zhujiang, about 40 minutes from Guilin by bus, and meander through the sleepy countryside are relaxing way to enjoy the superlative river scenery and life along its banks. In contrast to the burgeoning cities of the north, it is quiet here; the rural scenery is magnificent. You will enjoy the picturesque mountains, peaceful green fields, farms and villages with water buffaloes, cows wondering around on both sides of the river bank.

No bus to the dock, you should take a taxi or rent a car.
