Four Villages of Regong Art Travel Guide

Brief Introduction
The Regong Art, with its origin dated back to Yuan Dynasty, is an important school of the Tibetan Buddhist Art. The principal forms include Tangka, fresco, sculpture, colored painting and ghee flowers. The Regong Art derives its name from Regong ("golden valley" in Tibetan language) of the Tongren County, Qinghai Province. Nowadays about 90 percent of households in the County are engaged in production of Regong Art works.

There are four villages of Regong Art, including Shangxia Wutun, Nianduhu, Gasairi, and Guomari, in Tongren County, Tibet Autonomous Pre-fecture of Huangnan, are known as home to Buddhist paintings and sculptures, popular some 700 years ago.

The techniques of the Regong art have been fully used in beautifying people´s life, and can be found almost everywhere on the walls, bricks, stones, clothes, and buildings.
