Mudu Ancient Town Travel Guide

Mudu Ancient Town is located in the Taihu Lake Basin, 12 kilometers west of Suzhou City, with a history of 2500 years. It is one of the 13 famous scenic spots in Taihu Lake.

Mudu is the hometown of traditional handicrafts of Han nationality. In history, there are clay sculptor yuan Yuchang, silver expert Zhu Bishan, jade sculptor Lu Zigang, embroidery expert Shen Shou and so on. Their works are all national treasures.

The main scenic spots in Mudu include Yanjia Garden, Hongyin Garden, Old Pines Garden, Lingyan Hill, Tianping Hill, The Mansion of 2nd Place at Emperior Palace Examination and other famous cultural relics. 
In addition to enjoying the scenery, tourists can also taste local snacks with different flavors in different seasons, such as:
Steam black sticky rice flavored and colored by blueberry leaves, steam green sticky rice ball stuffed by red bean paste or lotus paste, rice colored by folium artemisiae argyi or other green color vegetable, Bracken, Malantou which is a vegetable good to fry with dried tofu,  Chinese sweet rice wine, Pine nuts with jujube paste, etc.
