Jimei School Village Travel Guide

Tan Kah Kee (1874-1961), a prominent overseas Chinese, spent almost all his lifelong savings on the construction of Jimei School Village. Construction of the first primary school began in 1913. By the year of 1925 a firls' primary school, a school training nursery instrucors, a middle school and a normal school had been completed. Now there are altogether 12 schools located in the village.

The Jimei School Village attracts many tourists not only for its famous schools but also for its beautiful natural scenery. The buildings feature the architectureal style of the Western world and the architectural style particular to areas in the southern part of Fujian Province which is homleand of many overseas Chinese.
