Menglun Tropical Plant Garden Travel Guide

Menglun Tropical Botanical Garden is also called Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Scinence. It is found by Chinese famouse botanist Prof. CAI Xitao in 1959 in Menglun Town, Mengla County,Jinghong City of Xishuangbanna.

Menglun Tropical Botanical Garden's mission is to protect and research local tropical and subtropical biocenosis and ecosystem, to discover human activities and climate change effects on ecosystem structure. Its mission also include disseminating the knowledge of tropical plants. Now the garden covers an area of 1125 hm2 include about 250 hm2 virgin tropical rainforest; and collect more than 12,000 types of plants.

Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden is Chinese largest, with the most abundant collections of plants botanical garden.

Traffic:

From downtown Jinghong city, you could take bus in Jinghong Bus Station to Menglun Town, it will take you about 1.5 hours. You could walk from Menglun Town Bus Station to the garden, it will take you about 10 minutes.
