Honghe Hani Rice Terraces Travel Guide

The Honghe Hani Rice Terraces is located in the south bank of Honghe River, Yunnan Province; it is masterpiece of Haini People left. Hani people cultivated the terraced fields with the mountain terrain changes, suit to local conditions.

The Yuanyang terrace is grand, stretching the South Bank of the Red River along the Yuanyang, Lvchun and Jinping County. There are 170000 acres of terraced fields in Yuanyang County, which is the core area of Honghe Hani Rice Terraces.

The Honghe Hani Rice Terraces has been listed in the world heritage list on 22nd June, 2013, became the China's forty-fifth World Heritage sites.

There are three main scenic spots: Bada Scenic Spots, Laohuzui Scenic Spots and Duoyishu Scenic Spots. Many of the terraced fields, nestled in the vast expanse of the forest, constitute a magnificent magical landscape.

Traffic:

1.There are shuttle bus between Kunming and Yuanyang, about 6 hours driving way. For night shift, from 20:00-05:30+1 for sleeper bunk. 2.From Jianshui, it is about two hours driving way to Yuanyang Rice Terrace. The shuttle bus is starting at 07:10 and closed at 18:40, depart about every 20-min daily.

Best Time to Visit:
The rice terrace is beautiful all year long. In June, Hani people start transplant rice, so in summer, there are green rice sea. The rice turns to golden yellow in October, another kind of scenery. However, the most beautiful time is winter, after the water terraces will shine silver light.
In a day, the morning sunrise is always attractive to all the shutterbug. Actually, the afternoon and gloaming is also great time to enjoy the beauty of rice terraces.
