Dali Overview

400 km from Kunming, Dali is a famous historical and cultural city in China with beautiful natural scenery and colorful ethnic minority group customs. It used to be the ancient capital of both the Bai kingdom Nanzhao, which flourished in the area during the 8th and 9th centuries, and the Kingdom of Dali, which reigned from 937–1253. The city was well built in Ming Dynasty. It was severely damaged by earthquake in 1925, but well protect now. The well-preserved traditional culture houses of Bai and Yi Ethnic Group people being the most attractive for tourists from aboard and outboard.
To encourage tourism, Dali government's urban planning keeps its old and new districts separate.
The new administrative district in Dali is not in Dali old town but located at the south of the old city, Dali International Convention Center in Longshan District.
Escape from noisy modern business center, the old city is still peaceful and quiet.
