Nine Dragon Screen Travel Guide

Brief Introduction
The Nine Dragon Screen has the history over 600 years, and it is presently the oldest and largest glazed screen in China today.

The Screen can be divided into three parts, the pedestal, body and roof.

The Nine Dragon Screen originally served the same function as a temple´s spirit wall.

Placed in front of an entrance(in this case to a Ming dynasty palace), it inhibited evil spirits from crossing a threshold and wreaking havoc within.

The colorful, glazed-tile wall depicts nine sinuous dragons and is an impressive 8m high, 45m long and 2m thick. Apparently it wasn´t enough though, because the palace burnt down long ago.
