Hulishan Fort Travel Guide

The area around the fort has been designated as a national AAAA tourist area. The fort was built in 1894, or the 20th years of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. It occupies an area of 70,000 squear meters on Huli Hill at the southern tip of Xiamen Island. Half of the fort is underground. The other half of it is surrounded by battlements. The whole stucture bears the architectureal features both from Europe and China in the Ming and Qing dynasties. The "King of Cannons" in the fort, manufactures by a German company, is 13.13 meters long, weighs 50 tons and rotates 360 degrees. Its effective range is 16,000 meters. It is the oldest and largest coast gun from the 19th century still in its original place in the world, and for this it has been collected into the Guinness Book of World Records. The programs of cannon drilling demonstrations, images of illusion, the Silicon Statue Hall and the 4D Movie Theater are much loved by tourists.
