Zhengzhou Overview

Zhengzhou formerly called Zhengxian is a prefecture-level city and the capital of Henan province. Located just north of the provinces center and south of the Yellow River, Zhengzhou borders Luoyang to the west, Jiaozuo to the northwest, Xinxiang to the northeast, Kaifeng to the east, Xuchang to the southeast, and Pingdingshan to the southwest. There are 29 big rivers divaricating from Yellow River and Huanhe River, among which 7 of them run through Zhengzhou city.
Zhengzhou was the capital city 3600 years ago during Xia dynasty and Shang dynasty, thus it is also a very important birthplace of Chinese civilization. It has over 10,000 cultural relics and historic sites, including historical building groups, Huangdi’s hometown (also called Yellow Emperor), Shang dynasty city ruins and so on.
