Day 1: Meet you at your hotel at 8:30, all day program to Jinci Temple, Tianlongshan Grottoes and Longshan Grottoes.
Program:
Today we will drive you from Taiyuan downtown to uptown for visiting
Jinci Temple, Tianlongshan Grottoes and Longshan Grottoes. After about 30 minutes driving, we will arrive Jinci Temple which has more than 1900 years history ancient ancestral temple, the highlight here are the ancestral temple architectures and statuettes. After that, we will drive to
Longshan Grottoes to enjoy the only Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368 AD) Taoist grottoes in China. Although the grottoes are not large in scale, they have unique carving techniques. Round face, heavy clothing, simple lines, rough style, rich life atmosphere. And our last stop will be
Tianlongshan Grottoes which are distributed on the cliffs of the East and West peaks of Tianlongshan mountain. We need some hiking from the foot of the mountain to the grottoes.There are 24 Buddhist grottoes from the Eastern Wei Dynasty (534-550 AD), the Northern Qi (550-557 AD), Sui Dynasty (581-618 AD) to Tang Dynasties (618-907). There are more than 1500 existing statues and 1144 relief and caisson painting.
After all program, your private guide and driver will transfer you back to your hotel in downtown Taiyuan.
Tips:
If you will visit Datong Yungang Grottoes (one of the most famous buddhist grottes in China, the other two are Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang City and Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang City) the next days, we could change Tianlongshan Grottoes to Fen River Park where is the largest citizen park in downtown Taiyuan.
