Korla Climate

Korla is located in the hinterland of Xinjiang Uygur [Uighur] Autonomous Region and the edge of the biggest desert in China—Taklimakan desert, belonging to warm temperate continental arid climate with rare precipitation and fast evaporation, rich sunshine and heat resources. Total sunshine in a year is about 3.000 hours. The annual average forest free period is 210 days. The annual average temperature is about 11 ℃. The coldest month is in January with average temperature of －7℃, extremely low temperature of -25.3℃; the hottest month is in July with average temperature of 26 ℃, extremely high temperature of 40℃. The annual precipitation is less than 60 mm but the annual max evaporation capacity is up to 2800 mm. Thus, it is very dry in Korla.
