Mengbanaxi Festival and the Water-Splashing FestivalMengbananxi festival is held in Mangshi from April 12th to March 14th along with Water-Splashing Festival. There would be artistic performance such as water drum dance, Dai opera and recreational activities such as splashing water, nationality sport competition. People sing and dance at night, they also shoot off fireworks and Kongming lanterns. Dai people and other minorities people think that water-splashing is respect and pass luck and healthy for each other.
Jingpo Minority Munao Zongge Festival Munaozongge Festival is the most grand Jingpo minority’s traditional festival . It’s held during Spring Festival on lunar Junuary 15, and it lasts 3-7 days. People come to Mangshi all the way from other places, and dance around “Munao Pillar”. According to the legend, Munao Song is a dance that birds learned from the God of God, and Jingpo people learned it from birds. In order to pass down to their offsprings, they curved it on the Munao Pillar.
