Shigatse Activities

Shigatse New Year (Sonam Losar)
It starts on the 29th day of the twelveth month in Tibetan calendar. The duration of the New Year is based on local customs and conditions and is not fixed.

Dama Festival in Gyantse
This festival was started from 1408, held from the 10th to the 27th of the fourth month in Tibetan calendar. It is to commemorate the death of Gyantse's religious ruler, Phakpa Sambu of the Sakya Dynasty. During the festivalk many activities such as horse race and archery, Tibetan opera performance, singing and dancing performance as well as trade fair are held.

Shigatse Qomolangma Tourism and Culture Festival
It is held during the end of September and the beginning of Octover in Shigatse, which include trade fair, Tebetan opera and religious drama perfermance as well as cos-tume shows.
