How to get there:

By air
There are dozens of flights fly from and to Lhasa. You can arrive in Beijing, Xian and Chengdu and then fly to Lhasa. For your information, the flights schedule is different between Summer&Autumn (April-October) and Winter&Spring (November-March). China Eastern Airlines, Southern Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines all have flights from and to Lhasa. There is seldom a discount on airfare; however, you may be the lucky dog.

By train
The Qinghai-Tibet Railway starts from Xining, Qinghai in the east and ends at Lhasa, Tibet in the west. It is about 1,956 km and the whole line was run-through on Oct 15, 2005. The long-cherished dream of Chinese people for two centuries came true and Tibet ended its history of having no railway. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway links the Longhai Railway to the south and the Eurasian Continental Bridge to the north. It goes by Tuotuo River, Tongtian River, goes through Mt.
